The main challenge - and opportunity! - facing enterprises today is not the *volume* of data at their disposal, it's the *variety* of data. Important information is kept in silos in many formats and shapes, with little or no semantic context. If we could integrate this data into a 360 view of the customer/patient/BadGuy we could get more insights and make better decisions.

At MarkLogic we address this problem by modeling data as entities (XML/JSON documents); and modeling facts, relationships, and the semantics of the data as triples. We'll describe in detail some real-world successes with this approach, and peek under the covers at the indexes and code that make it all work. And we'll look at adding SQL to the mix. How do you integrate data from silos easily and quickly, and cope with changes to incoming data and semantics? Come along to this talk and find out.

  • Data Integration - Why is it important? and; Why is it so hard?
  • Hybrid Modeling Approach - Documents and triples and SQL
  • Case Studies - Household names using the hybrid approach
